Not all LVP is created equal. Before you buy, check these three specs — they matter more than the brand name on the box.
The wear layer is the clear protective coating that stands between your floor and daily life. For busy households, look for at least 20 mil. Anything under 12 mil will show scratches sooner than you’d like.
Aim for a total thickness of 5 mm or more. Thinner planks tend to have fragile locking systems that can gap or break over time.
Even the best LVP can fail over an uneven subfloor. Proper leveling before installation protects the locking system and keeps your floor solid for years.
